As a woman we instinctively put others first, especially if we have children and/or spouse or partner. Life can get busy and when we stop to think, how much love and self-care do we actually give to ourselves. It’s all too common for us to put our self-care on the back burner – or even all the way down in the chest freezer in the basement.
Don’t let your self-care routine get freezer burnt!!
I totally get the feeling of guilt sometimes when it comes to spending money – I especially feel this way when it comes to shopping for clothes or any time I walk into a TK Max or Next. When I step into my favourite store and see all of the new season’s clothing and home décor are out, WATCH OUT. I am going to fill up my cart with a ton of things I probably don’t really need, and that doesn’t serve many purposes except that temporary moment of retail therapy. I have been working on reigning in my frivolous spending and focusing more on spending money on things that serve a purpose in my life.
But self-care, girl you need to keep up with that.
Self-care looks different from person to person. For me, self-care looks like staying home on the couch on Sundays and watching endless Netflix – even when I could be cleaning the house or some other menial tasks. It looks like getting a massage now and then, or paddle boarding when the sun is warm. It’s hanging out with friends with a margarita in hand, having my nails done, or taking a warm bubble bath. But it’s also regular exercise to keep me moving and healthy, and to manage my stress. It’s taking vitamins because I know I don’t always eat healthy for dinner and my body needs proper fuel to function.
A boudoir session can be self-care.
A boudoir session can help you honour your body in a way you have never honoured it before. It can change the way you see yourself, the way you talk to yourself. It can put some pep-back-in-your-step and give yourself a newfound sense of self and self-worth.
You should never, ever feel guilty about doing things for yourself, taking time away from the daily grind to fill your cup so that you can be the best version of yourself. If it makes you feel good, keeps you sane, or if you think it’s going to help your confidence or see your beauty – that matters, too. When you are taken care of you can better serve those you love. Boudoir is the ultimate gift for yourself. Book now!
“I lied and said I was busy. I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.
I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.
Sometimes, this is my busy –
and I will not apologize for it.”
